Who we are

South West Periodontics specialises in periodontal and implant services in Campbelltown. Established by Dr. Fiona Little in 2012, our clinic is dedicated to restoring gum health, functionality, and aesthetics for every patient. Under the leadership of Dr. Denny Luo and with the support of Dr. Little, Dr. Khan, and Dr. Kamil, our team combines expertise, compassion, and cutting-edge dental technology to deliver exceptional care tailored to individual needs. We collaborate closely with referring dentists in the region to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. At South West Periodontics, our goal is to positively impact our patients’ lives through personalised attention and a commitment to dental excellence.

Dr. Denny Luo is a Campbelltown local that graduated from James Cook University in Cairns with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, followed by a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Honours). Denny completed the Primary Dental Sciences Examination with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2018. Developing a deep interest in periodontics and implant dentistry, Denny completed a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) at the University of Sydney. He was further admitted as a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Primary Dental Sciences and in the Specialist Dental Practice discipline of Periodontics.

Denny has contributed to reputable international journals, presented at multiple research conferences, and has been honoured with various awards, including the Straumann Group Research Award, the Australian Dental Research Foundation Grant, the Colgate Travel Award (to present research at the 58th Annual Scientific Meeting of the IADR ANZ Division), the Australian Society of Periodontology Medal, the Best Research Poster Prize for the JCU Colleges of Medicine & Dentistry and Healthcare Sciences, the NAHSS Allied Health Clinical Placement Scholarship, the Head of Dentistry Best Student Research Poster (JCU), and the Overall Best Poster Award for Research at the JCU College of Dentistry: Clinical Day.

Denny actively participates in clinical education at the Sydney Dental School, contributing to both the Doctor of Dental Medicine and the Bachelor of Oral Health programs. He extends his support to fellow dental practitioners within the broader dental community and eagerly offers assistance in all aspects of periodontics and implant dentistry.

Dr. Fiona Little graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney and spent four years in private practice before joining the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Broken Hill. After returning to Sydney in 1993, she worked in private practice and later at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, with extensive exposure in treating medically compromised patients. Fiona attained a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1999 before pursuing specialist training in Periodontics at the University of Melbourne, earning a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry degree.

Returning to Sydney in 2006, Fiona established herself as a periodontist, founding South West Periodontics in Campbelltown in 2012. Alongside her clinical work, Fiona has served as the past President of the Australian Society of Periodontology (NSW branch) and is an active member of various professional organisations including the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology, Australasian Osseointegration Society, and International Team for Implantology.

Fiona is passionate about teaching and has provided education to students pursuing Bachelor of Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Medicine, and Bachelor of Oral Health degrees. She has also delivered lectures on periodontics and dental implants both locally and interstate. In her spare time, Fiona enjoys family moments and pursuing her hobbies of running, swimming, and playing the violin.

 

Dr. Jawad Khan is a dental professional specialising in periodontology. Jawad earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry and Master of Dentistry at La Trobe University, Bendigo, graduating in 2017. During his studies, Jawad received numerous accolades, including the Henry Schein Halas Prize, Pierre Fauchard Academy Foundation Scholarship, and Delta Sigma Delta Dentistry Student Achievement Award, while also serving as a student leader, council representative, and academic mentor.

Commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Australian Army in 2017, Jawad was promoted to Captain upon completing his undergraduate studies. He provided dental care to service members during postings to the 2ND General Health Battalion and Joint Health Unit – Central NSW (HMAS Kuttabul). In 2021, Jawad was awarded the Australian Defence Medal in recognition of his service to the Australian Defence Force.

Jawad completed the Primary Fellowship Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2020, earning examiner commendations in all six subjects. In 2022, inspired by a growing interest in periodontics and implant dentistry he commenced a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) at the University of Sydney on path to becoming a specialist periodontist. During specialist training he also served as a student representative on the Westmead Clinical Training Committee.

An active member of professional organisations, including the International Team for Implantology, Australian Society of Periodontology, and Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, Jawad is dedicated to high standard periodontal and implant dentistry. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and sports including squash, cricket and soccer.

Dr. Wisam Kamil is a dental professional and researcher specialising in periodontology and public health dentistry. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Baghdad University, followed by a master’s degree in Periodontology from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Kamil is certified by the Australian Dental Council and has completed a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) at the University of Sydney. 

Throughout his accomplished career, Dr. Kamil has made contributions to academia, clinical practice, and research. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in Malaysia, where he played a key role in teaching and mentoring students. Currently, he works as a part-time Clinical Educator in the discipline of Periodontology at the University of Sydney’s Dental School, training and supporting DMD students in developing both clinical and theoretical expertise.

Dr. Kamil’s research interests encompass gerodontology, socioeconomic disparities in dental care, and periodontal disease management. His work has been widely published in leading journals, including Gerodontology, Australasian Journal on Ageing, and Journal of Periodontal Research. He has also presented his findings at numerous international conferences.

Dr. Kamil has been recognised with multiple accolades throughout his career, including awards for oral and poster presentations, the prestigious Research Training Program Scholarship from the Australian Government, and invitations to represent Malaysia in international periodontal forums.
