DR WISAM KAMIL
Dr. Wisam Kamil is a male dental professional and researcher specialising in periodontology and public health dentistry. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Baghdad University, followed by a master’s degree in Periodontology from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Kamil is certified by the Australian Dental Council and has completed a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) at the University of Sydney.
Throughout his accomplished career, Dr. Kamil has made contributions to academia, clinical practice, and research. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in Malaysia, where he played a key role in teaching and mentoring students. Currently, he works as a part-time Clinical Educator in the discipline of Periodontology at the University of Sydney’s Dental School, training and supporting DMD students in developing both clinical and theoretical expertise.
Dr. Kamil’s research interests encompass gerodontology, socioeconomic disparities in dental care, and periodontal disease management. His work has been widely published in leading journals, including Gerodontology, Australasian Journal on Ageing, and Journal of Periodontal Research. He has also presented his findings at numerous international conferences.
Dr. Kamil has been recognised with multiple accolades throughout his career, including awards for oral and poster presentations, the prestigious Research Training Program Scholarship from the Australian Government, and invitations to represent Malaysia in international periodontal forums.
